Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. Pilot barely survives Cheyenne River Crash





What: A Piper PA18 single-engine aircraft registered to the pilot landed in Pierre to refuel, then intended to head to the Sturgis motorcycle rally. After takeoff, the plane took a hard right and fell into the Cheyenne River.
Where: Cheyenne River, 40 miles north of Wall.
When: Sunday
Who: Pilot 43-year-old Michael Mitchell and passenger 53-year-old Timothy Pylman, both injured.
Why: The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
