Emergency Landing near Vancouver

What: two-passenger Piper Cherokee on a training flight
Where: emergency landing in Pitt Meadows marsh adjacent to the Swan-E-Set golf course
Who: Delta flight instructor and student from Canadian Flight Centre
Why: The engine of a school plane failed as the plane heading toward Delta’s Boundary Bay airport Vancouver. Thanks to the instructor, the plane landed safely with no injuries

Skilled Emergency Landing at Albany International Airport

What: Rented single engine Piper Cherokee from the Piseco Lake Airport in the southern Adirondacks around 1:00 Friday afternoon, headed home to Cherry Hill.
Where: Directed by control tower to (emergency) land at Albany International Airport
When: Friday afternoon 2:30 pm
Who: Stephans family of Cherry Hill: Dad Jim, wife and two kids
Why: Thumping on the left side of the plane... landing gear assembly, which later fell off in the woods near the airport.

Update
The pilot (Jim Stephans) said : “Basically had to get the plane to just above stall speed and then hold it there and keep the plane on one wheel as long as I could to allow me to slow the plane and slide into the grass.”

Officials said Stephans did a good job of landing in the first 1000 feet of the runway and sliding off the runway. The plane landed with barely any damage -- no real damage to the plane, no damage to the people in it.

Piper Cherokee Crashes at Lowell City Airport.

What: Single Engine Piper Cherokee bound for to Wisconsin (but never got off the runway)
Where: Lowell City Airport.
When: 6:10 p.m. Wednesday
Who: Pilot (Christopher Harper) and one passenger (Joshua Enrico). Both walked away. (No fatalities.) The pilot from Alto was issued a private pilot's license 5 years ago.
Why: The Piper Cherokee didn't have enough lift on the 2,300-foot runway to get airborne so the pilot aborted the takeoff. Heat impedes lift, and the runway was hot. The plane was going 20 to 25 miles per hour when it crashed into trees beyond the end of the runway and the 60 gallons of fuel on board started a grass fire.

Vegas Crash

What: single-engine Piper Cherokee en route from the North Las Vegas airport to Byron, Calif.
Where: Las Vegas Nevada
When: 2:45 p.m Saturday
Who: 4 people. Four Oakley residents, including a candidate for Contra Costa County supervisor (Erik Nunn and wife) and their neighbors Michele and Craig Wilson.
Why: Struck power lines.under investigation by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board. Subsequent wildfire burns Spring Mountain Recreation Area
