Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. Boeing Engine Failure; Emergency Landing in Jakarta

What: Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-200 en route from Tanjungpinang airport on Bintan island to the capital, Jakarta.
Where: unscheduled landing at the nearest airstrip
When: Mar 23rd 2009
Who: 116 passengers and 6 crew
Why: Eight minutes after takeoff, the left hand engine failed with a loud bang. The whole flight took about 27 minutes.
