We make a special effort here to record the facts as we receive them. At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Piper Crashes in NJ


What: Piper PA-28-140 registered to Peter Schneider
Where: Hunterdon County NJ a quarter-mile east of Alexandria Field airport in a wooded area behind a house on Mechlin Corner Road Alexandria Township.
When: Tuesday night some time after 6 pm. Troopers discovered the wreckage around 8 p.m.
Who: Pilot Peter Schneider was airlifted to St. Luke's Hospital in serious condition. Pilot/flight instructor Ronald Orton died in the crash.
Why: The plane's owner was in the process of logging hours to maintain his license when the crash occurred.
