Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. American Eagle Slipsliding Away on Syracuse, New York Icy Runway

What: American Eagle ERJ-145 en route from Chicago to Syracuse
Where: Hancock Airport in Syracuse, New York
When: following an incident Sunday night
Who: 48 passengers and three crew, "
Why: American says the plane "landed normally and towards the last third of the runway, slid off the runway."

There were no injuries, and the incident was blamed on ice on the runway. There is discussion about the airport's assessment of runway conditions prior to clearing the flight to land.
