A Note to Our Readers

Dear Readers,
We make a special effort here to record the facts as we receive them. At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. "...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for..." us all.

Skydive Plane Crash in Canada

What: Twin-engined King Air plane
Where: Pitt Meadows Airport, east of Vancouver
When: Sunday afternoon
Who: pilot, Ian Flanagan, who is also the owner of Pacific Skydivers and three students, who are believed to be from NUI Maynooth. Skydivers and pilot were taken to the Vancouver General Hospital for treatment. One Irish woman suffered a broken pelvis; the other two, a man and a woman, were treated for minor injuries and flew back to Ireland.
Why: Under investigation. Witnesses saw an aircraft engine fail before the pilot made a wheels-up landing in a blueberry field. The pilot is quoted as saying "There was a problem with the engine. We ended up having to do a forced 'belly-type' landing on a field near Pitt Meadows Airport."

You really need o check you facts on this report. There was one critically injured person on this flight that didnt walk away. He is still in hospital recovering.

The only injury detail was the woman with the broken pelvis; no information was presented to us regarding the man and woman who flew to Ireland. Of course we hope they are recovering.
