At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Mount Baldy Crash and Fatality: update




What: Four-seat, single-engine Cessna 172 originating in Palo Alto. The plane was registered to Advantage Aviation Inc. of Palo Alto.
Where: In the mountains about two miles northwest of Incline Village near Lake Tahoe
When: Late Thursday night/early Friday morning. The body was found August 8.
Who: The pilot was Doyle John Borchers II who died of multiple injuries due to blunt force trauma,
Why: Crashed near the Mount Baldy peak. Visibility was obscured at the scene of the accident, hampering the initial investigation. The NTSB investigation is ongoing.
