At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Lost Plane found Wrecked near Ghost Town




What: Green Valley Pecan Company-owned single-engine plane took off from a company airstrip in San Simon, a few miles west of the New Mexico border bound for another company strip near Green Valley
Where: Wreckage was located against a cliff near the mining ghost town of Helvetia, 30 miles southeast of Tucson
When: Went missing Thursday; The wreckage of the plane was spotted Friday afternoon
Who: Pilot and sole occupant Layne Brandt, vice president of farm operations for the Farmers Investment Co.
Why: It is believed the pilot suffered a "health issue."
