At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Emergency Landing at Yellowknife




What: Canadian North flight 444 (Boeing 737 ) originated from Edmonton and stopping in Yellowknife en route to Norman Wells then Inuvik
Where: SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE
When: August 26, 2008
Who: 76 passengers and 4 crew. Passengers included reporters on their way to Inuvik, NDP incumbent Dennis Bevington and Conservative candidate Brendan Bell.
Why:15 minutes after takeoff the pilot announced they were returning to the airport for personnel to take a look at the plane. The incident was a probable bird strike.
