We make a special effort here to record the facts as we receive them. At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Charlottesville Emergency Landing



What: United Airlines "United Express" flight 8066 (Embraer 145 regional jet that seats 50)from Chicago to Richmond
Where: Charlottesville-Albermarle Airport
When: scheduled to arrive in Richmond at 2:30 p.m but arrived at Charlottesville at 2 pm
Who: 30 people on board (26 passengers, 4 crew)
Why: Smoke was reported in the cabin. The plane landed without injury to anyone; and the passengers were driven the rest of the way to Richmond.
