We make a special effort here to record the facts as we receive them. At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Air NZ Nails Emergency Landing


What: Air New Zealand Boeing 747 jet en route for Los Angeles
Where: NZ
When: Saturday night (Feb 7)7:30 p.m. local time Saturday (06:30 GMT), returned to Auckland 90 minutes later.
Who: 365 people on board
Why: Reporting a hydraulic problem after a light indicated a landing gear should not be raised, the Boeing dumped it's fuel and returned at low altitude to New Zealand for a safe landing.
