At times, there may be error but we do try to use our best judgement at the time of posting, and will be glad to amend any details which are proved incorrect. Furthermore, even though we do not here discuss the human cost, we realize that losing anyone in an air accident is insurmountable tragedy to individuals, families and communities. We do extend our heartfelt sympathy to those whose loss we record here. Cessna and Liberty Collide over Australia


What: Cessna 152 owned by Basair Aviation College
a single-engine Liberty owned by Sydney Flight Training Centre
Where: Flame Tree Street, Casula, in Sydney's southwest
When: 11.30am (AEST) on Thursday
Who: Two fatalities: a woman instructor and her female student pilot.
On the Liberty, the 89-year-old male instructor and a 25-year-old male student pilot were unhurt
Why: Plane clipped another light aircraft in mid-air. One plane managed to make it to Bankstown Airport. The other plane landed in a yard, destroying the back of the house and a pergola.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating.
